Multi-million dollar poker events

The live poker scene in Las Vegas was badly affected by the COVID-19 closures in 2020. With the beginning of the year 2021 it appears that major tournaments have slowly returned, albeit with restrictions.

This summer in Las Vegas, Wynn Resorts is hosting the Wynn Millions poker event, part of its $ 16 million Signature Series. The event will feature a guaranteed prize pool of $ 10 million and will be the largest poker tournament ever hosted by Wynn Las Vegas with up to 90 poker tables.

The new tournament hosted by Wynn Resorts will now take place between June 25 and July 2 and will be part of the company's $ 16 million GTD Summer Series. Players will start with 40,000 chips played at 60 minute levels before progressing to 90 minute levels and will only be able to re-enter once for each initial flight.

Ryan Beauregard, the executive director of poker operations for Wynn Las Vegas, said of the event that he hopes in this inaugural year that the Wynn Millions will attract seasoned professional and amateur players from around the world. The massive $ 10 million guarantee seeks to make the Wynn Millions a staple event for years to come, adding to the already world-class tournament schedule.

With the WSOP not taking place this summer due to COVID-19, the Wynn Millions will become an alternative destination for those looking for great guaranteed live poker tournaments during the summer months.

Wynn Summer Classic

The Wynn Millions will run as part of the Wynn Summer Classic, which includes more than 30 events and runs from May 27 to July 13 and features at least $ 16 million in combined warranties.

A $ 1,100 GTD NLH tournament with a buy-in of $ 1M will take place on May 28, followed by another event with a buy-in of $ 1,600 and a GTD NLH event of $ 1M on June 17. It will be followed by another $ 1M GTD NLH tournament on July 7.

Wynn is looking to introduce live poker as the big event and wants to make sure no one misses out on the World Series of Poker. However, he will depend on player participation, something that should be easy to organize given the decline in the pandemic and the lifting of restrictions in Las Vegas and Nevada.

A cumulative petition for poker action

So far in the history of live poker in Las Vegas, only a few tournaments can match an event of such size, the WSOP events in Rio, the Super High Roller Bowl in Aria, the World Poker Tour Five Diamond Poker Classic in Bellagio, and the DeepStack Championship at the Venetian.

Wynn isn't the only casino looking to tap into pent-up demand for poker action, The Venetian will host the DeepStack Championship Series, which kicks off in May and runs through August with three hefty prize events of $ 2 million and more.

Another huge tournament in the poker industry is the WPT Venetian, a $ 5,000 entry event that promises $ 3 million in guaranteed prizes starting on July 2.
