23-year-old professional poker player Sean Perry won the $ 25,000 Hold'em High Roller tournament at the Venetian last week for a major jackpot of $ 365,500. Perry proved to be the best of 43 other poker players. Over the course of his poker career, he has accumulated $ 2.6 million in poke, so far this year alone he has won $ 1,693,618 in multiple tournaments.
The tournament was part of a High Roller PokerGO Tour, a three-day event that took place last week at the Venetian. Ali Imsirovic and Shawn Daniels won the other two High Roller events and took home prizes of $ 200,200 and $ 175,500 respectively.
Ali Imsirovic, a Bosnian poker star, named 2018 Poker Player of the Year, proved to be the best of 77 poker players, considering the participation of Daniel Negreanu, Alex Foxen, Shawn Daniels and more famous poker players. Poker legend Negreanu was eliminated by Imsirovic and ranked 12th. At just 26 years old, he has achieved poker greatness and continues to amaze with his brilliance at the highest stakes. With the victory, he also earned 200 PokerGO Tour points, extending his lead to 400 points over Sean Perry.
At the final table, it was Imsirovic against Daniels and although Daniels had the chip lead, his king five did not hold up against Imsirovic's two sevens. Daniels was the first during the second event proving to be the best of the other 65 poker players. He beat Sergi Reixach, who has been one of the high rollers last year. The California native scored the highest score of his poker career and now has nearly $ 1.4 million in prize money from live tournaments.
Venetian DeepStack Championship Poker Series 2021
Since May, Venetian Las Vegas has hosted the DeepStack Championship Poker Series, which runs through August 1 and offers more than $ 15 million in guaranteed prizes. So far, the series has served more than 6,000 participants and has awarded more than $ 2 million. High Roller event # 1: $ 10,000 No-Limit Hold'em attracted 77 runners and offered a prize pool of $ 770,000. Due to its five-figure buy-in, the tournament was part of the PokerGO Tour with players earning points based on the amount they collect.
Tickets for the first two events were set at $ 10,000, while the buy-in for the third event was $ 25,000. When playing No Limit Hold'em, players started with 100,000 chips. Every 40 minutes, the blinds increase, while a shot clock of 30 seconds is valid for each of the players.
In addition to the Venetian, more tournaments are coming to the Strip this summer. In April, Wynn announced that the Wynn Summer Classic 2021 will launch on May 27, with 30 events, and will run until July 13. However, the most anticipated event for poker fans, the World Series of Poker was postponed until September due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
