Fox Bet Keeps Growing

Michigan Goes Live with Sports Betting

Michigan's long-awaited gambling launch took place in late January, with the launch of nine online casinos. Meanwhile, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), the state regulator, is in the process of reviewing additional applications and may authorize more submissions.

The state hopes to generate additional taxes at a time when state closures have depleted tax revenue. Michigan will charge 8.4% on all sports bets with the online gambling rate ranging from 20% to 28% and Detroit casinos may contribute an additional municipal fee in addition to any taxes required by law. Online gaming tax revenue will be divided.
