NetEnt expands its presence in the US.

NetEnt entered Michigan's online gaming market, following the legalization of mobile gaming on January 21. NetEnt's immediate and broad entry into Michigan strengthens Evolution Group's position as a leader in the United States.

The company has been operating in New Jersey since 2015, in Pennsylvania since 2019 and in West Virginia since last year. In December last year, NetEnt was acquired by Evolution in a deal worth nearly $ 2.36 billion and it plans to open a live casino streaming studio later this year in Michigan, making it its third studio in the United States , after New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

NetEnt enters Michigan’s new igaming market with multiple operators.

BetRivers / RSI, BetMGM, Churchill Downs, DraftKings, FanDuel, Golden Nugget, William Hill and WynnBET began operations in the Great Lakes state on Friday, January 22, and all offered games from the premium casino content provider.

According to NetEnt, all operators approved for launch in Michigan will offer the provider's titles, such as Divine Fortune, Starburst and Blackjack. The successful launch of multiple operators is the result of months of planning and work.

Jeff Millar, Evolution Commercial Director, said the United States is a top priority market for Evolution Group. The company is poised to add more operators across all US markets during 2021 with high-profile game launches.

Michigan online casinos are now legal and live.

The Internet Legal Gaming Act has been passed and signed, to play slots and table games in Detroit, Flint or Lansing. Online casino games and sports betting are now officially legal in Michigan, as the Michigan Gaming Control Board has licensed several operators.

Online sports betting and casino games launched in Michigan on January 22 with nine operators authorized to begin offering sports betting. More apps are awaiting approval, including powerhouses Fox Bet and PointsBet, which was approved for online sports betting. The initial wave of applications to be released will be followed by a steady stream of new approvals.

The MGCB has authorized operators such as DraftKings, FanDuel and others to accept bets from Michigan gamblers, once a standby test is complete. The test is to allow more testing time before the applications are activated.

Online gaming and sports betting offer casinos new ways to interact with customers, while the state will benefit from taxes and payments from gambling income. Sports betting and online gambling are expected to generate millions each year in state revenue. Tax on sports betting receipts after payment of winnings will be 8.4%. The tax on Internet poker and other online games will range from 20% to 28%.

Sports bettors were able to place bets at some land based casinos as of last spring. But mobile sports betting, internet poker and other online games must wait until the three commercial casinos in Detroit, the 24 tribal casinos and providers like FanDuel and Barstool receive state licenses.
