LeoVegas launches into game development with In-House Studio
Online casino and sports betting group LeoVegas opens up new horizons and is ready to venture into game development with the launch of its new in-house studio, Blue Guru Games. The company, which has a team with more than two decades of collective experience in the field, seeks to create new and innovative content and expects the first games from the studio to be released in late 2021.
LeoVegas has formed Blue Guru Games through LeoVentures, in which the gaming operator has an 85% stake in the new iGaming studio. The studio will develop online casino games exclusively for LeoVegas and its brands as well as other operators and they hope to create and launch at least 20 new games in the next 2 years through Blue Guru Games. Future titles from the studio will join the games already available from LeoVegas brands, content from more than 60 leading game providers for the online casino industry.
The new proprietary games will provide LeoVegas with intellectual property rights that will offer the company and its brands greater flexibility in how the games can be used to improve player retention.
Attractive and innovative games
LeoVegas CEO Gustaf Hagman said that they have long added exclusive games to their offering with the help of third-party vendors and that they believe now is the right time to take the plunge and develop games entirely on their own. The provider will draw on its data and knowledge of the online casino industry to drive innovation and develop games that its players really enjoy.
The LeoVegas library would include everything from local titles for the individual market to games with a broader international appeal. Through Blue Guru Games, the provider plans to create unique game characters that it will use in its marketing initiatives to build greater brand loyalty thanks to this flexibility in game production that will give it a competitive advantage.
The continued expansion of LeoVegas
LeoVegas has been very busy for the past few months, late last year it launched its Pink Casino brand in Canada, the first market it entered since its initial launch in the UK.In March, LeoVegas became the first iGaming operator to go through a comprehensive approval process and launch its online casino app on Google Play. The company has been able to implement its application for its users in Sweden, Denmark and Spain. Players can download the product on their Android devices and play the wide variety of casino games that are available in the LeoVegas lobby.
The same month, the company consolidated its presence in the Nordic countries with the acquisition of Expekt Nordics, one of the leaders in the provision of online gambling services in the region. This strengthens the company's portfolio of brands, which currently includes 13 operations, including the LeoVegas flagship. The transaction is also expected to strengthen the group's position in the sports game and expand its growth opportunities.
LeoVegas also entered into an agreement with Mangas Gaming Ltd. to purchase all assets related to Expekt's operation, including all rights to the brand and access to its gambler database.
