A Temporary permit from the Virginia Lottery
Golden Nugget Online Gaming, the online gambling division of Tilman Fertitta's casino empire, this week became the latest company to receive a digital gaming license in Virginia. The operator obtained a temporary permit from the Virginia Lottery that allows it to begin providing online sports betting services in the state. The Company now has market access in 10 states, if permitted by law and regulatory approvals.
Thomas Winter, president of GNOG, said he is grateful to the Virginia Lottery for the opportunity to expand its online business in the Commonwealth of Virginia. GNOG's expansion into the Virginia gambling market is in line with the company's effort to build a hotel and gaming complex in Richmond. Golden Nugget Richmond Hotel & Casino will cost $ 400 million and take three years to build. It will feature a 93,000-square-foot casino with 1,900 slot machines, 92 table games and eight poker tables, a hotel with 177 rooms and 37 suites, a 1,500-seat concert hall, multiple food and beverage outlets, a luxury pool complex, with private cabanas and more.
Golden Nuggets expansion effort in the United States market
In December of last year, Golden Nugget Online Gaming announced that it had secured a new partnership agreement with Greenbrier Hotel Corp that would grant it access to the West Virginia sports betting and iGaming market. The announcement of this new agreement came days after the company announced that it had entered into a joint venture with Wilmot Gaming LLC, which had given it access to the market for iGaming and sports betting providers in the state of Illinois.
Under the terms of the Wilmot deal, the two companies will build a new casino in Danville, Illinois, once regulatory approvals are received. The new casino will be GNOG branded and have the exclusive rights to provide Illinois residents with their sportsbook and, should state laws change, their online casino gaming solution. In addition to this, the company has committed to providing Danville Development with a significant loan of $ 30 million that will go towards the development and construction of the new casino and sports betting venue.
Following the agreement with The Greenbrier Resort, Golden Nugget will provide The Greenbrier and its clients with its mobile sports betting and iGaming offering, once it obtains the necessary regulatory approvals. Under the terms of the agreement, Golden Nugget will pay The Greenbrier a percentage of its overall online gaming revenue, which is subject to the minimum royalty percentages for the period.
The Greenbrier Resort
The Greenbrier Resort, located in White Sulfur Springs, West Virginia, already offers its customers a casino offer and has already secured partnership agreements with FanDuel, to offer its sportsbook, and BetMGM, which offers customers a premium iGaming platform. The addition of GNOG services will enhance the overall Greenbrier gaming experience and be a great help for Golden Nugget to expand its brand as it enters the West Virginia market.
