Google Play has announced that the gambling and betting apps for Android will be available in its Play Store for the US and other countries and will go into effect on March 1. It will allow real money gambling applications, ads related to real money gambling games, and daily fantasy sports applications that meet certain requirements. Currently, Android users can only get the apps from the carriers' websites.

In addition to the US, applications will be available for download in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Romania, Spain, and Sweden. The rules vary from country to country, sports betting is allowed in all fifteen countries, while Australia, Japan and New Zealand will not have access to online casino games.
In August 2017, Google Play initially allowed real money gambling applications in the UK, Ireland, France and enabled access to gambling applications in Brazil, limited to approved applications published by the government bank Caixa Economica Federal.
Requirements for Google Play Use
In addition to the requirements for gambling applications, we must not forget compliance with laws and industry standards in each country where it will be distributed. Developers must have a valid gaming license for each country or state, the application must warn underage users, it must be free to download and install from the Google Store, and it must clearly display information about responsible gaming. The new policy also sets requirements for real money games, contests and tournament apps, advertisements, and DFS apps.

In Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia will have access to lotteries. Depending on the state, daily fantasy sports may be regulated as gambling in the US, all published daily fantasy sports applications are subject to the requirements of daily fantasy sports applications.
