BetMGM, will be able to compete with PokerStars

Leading sports betting and gaming company BetMGM will soon be able to compete with PokerStars in Michigan's regulated online marketplace. Entain and MGM Resorts are expected to launch online poker in the Wolverine state. Last month the company launched its online casino and sports betting services in the state and all players who already have a BetMGM account in Michigan will also be able to access BetMGM Poker once the platform is launched.

While Michigan's finally regulated online gambling began on January 22, 2021, Michigan's online poker is lagging behind. At the moment, the first and so far the only operator to launch an online poker room in Michigan is PokerStars MI. BetMGM has already acquired all the necessary gaming licenses and they went live with BetMGM Casino and BetMGM Sports earlier this year and are about to join the MI poker market in the very near future.

BetMGM has entered 10 U.S. states and the company continues to expand

In addition to its launch in Michigan, BetMGM is also preparing to bring the partypoker US Network to Pennsylvania, although the company has successfully launched an online casino and online sportsbook in the state, it has yet to launch at online poker. Roar and BetMGM were approved to offer online games, including online poker and casino games and online sports betting by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board in October of the year.

Although online poker is legal and regulated, more online poker rooms are expected to launch in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, where no operator has launched, presumably due to the state's relatively small population. International online poker operators that currently have no presence in the US see the US market as a great opportunity. NSUS Group, the parent company of GGPoker, the world's fastest growing online poker room, is expected to gain approval to offer online poker in the state.

BetMGM Poker Michigan coming soon

Partypoker is one of the most popular online poker platforms in the world. The international version of the partypoker client was removed from the US market following the passage of the Illegal Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, and partypoker decided to voluntarily leave the US industry. The brand returned to the US in 2013, with the launch of partypoker NJ. In Michigan, the poker app will launch under the BetMGM Poker brand, albeit with the same technology. A Pennsylvania version of partypoker will also be released shortly.

BetMGM Poker MI could join partypoker US Network as a multi-state online poker collaboration. MGM Grand Detroit will serve as the retail casino partner for the Michigan poker app. BetMGM and Partypoker's parent company GVC Holdings are MGM Resorts partners for online gaming, under the Roar Digital brand.
